"The role of universities in building a disaster resilience society"
Huge natural disasters such as the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and tsunami, disasters caused by global climate change that occur frequently in recent years, pandemic disasters caused by the new coronavirus, etc., and their complex occurrences, and the damages are linked being more complicated. Building a safe and resilient society in the world is the most important issue. In 2015, the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, SDGs, Paris Agreement, etc. were discussed, and international cooperation is being started and developed toward 2030. Here, we would like to discuss how the universities can contribute to the construction of a resilient society, while introducing the devastating damage caused by the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake & tsunami and the recovery/reconstruction process from it.
